Reppin' My Whey: Chelsey Quirk

Reppin' My Whey: Chelsey Quirk

Our Reppin' My Whey series allows us to highlight members of the EFM community, the fun facts that make them unique and how EFM has made a difference in their lives.

Let's hear it for Chelsey, part of the EFM M.A.F.I.A. and one of our amazing wholesalers.

How did you get into athletics/training/sports?
In high school, I played soccer, and cheerleading, and rode equestrian for years. That was athletic as it got. After high school, I knew I wanted to keep up with my fitness so I joined a 24-hour gym, but I didn't really know what I was doing so I found this outdoor boot camp that I LOVED, but it soon got to the point where I wanted MORE. This is when my friend told me about this Crossfit gym that was opening up by my house, so like most of us it was when I found Crossfit that I got this competitive edge. Which then lead to weightlifting; the sport I currently train in full-time.
What do you do in athletics/how are you involved? Who do you work with/train with?
When I started Crossfit in 2012 I got my CFL1 certification in 2013. Then I got more involved in weightlifting and decided that it would be a good idea to get my USAW in 2014. I founded, Girls Gone Buff in 2016. And I also own and operate Parish Barbell Club in the outer New Orleans area of Louisiana. We have eight coaches on staff that I adore and couldn't do this business without.

What are your current training goals?
My current training goals are to continue to stay consistent. Get as strong as I can and I would love to snatch 200 lbs.

What is your favorite hobby outside the gym?
Going to the movies, listening to documentaries or podcasts, and finding my next house cat.

Who inspires you?
My husband, my athletes, my teammates, and my coach. They inspire every day.

What is your walkout song and why?
Fly by Nicki Minaj. There is always a way you can survive and conquer even when all obstacles are thrown your way.

If you had to pick 3 people for your team on the zombie apocalypse, who would you pick and why?
Woody Harrelson because he'll take the risks you don't want to, Katniss Everdeen can use a bow like no other and knows how to survive when odds aren't looking too good, and Paul Walker because he would be our getaway car driver.

What is the best piece of fitness advice you've ever been given or like to give?
Like my coach has told taught, "Little by Little becomes a lot." And progress comes in all shapes and sizes. You just have to keep believing in yourself, forgive yourself, be kind, and keep going. Because if you keep going you will keep growing.

If you could live in one fictional universe, which would it be and who would you be?
I would be in the wizarding world most definitely. And I would be Newt. Because I want all his little creatures.

What is your favorite and least favorite type of workout?
Ugh, I hate running, and running hates me. My favorite type of workout would always involve a barbell.

How long have you been using EFM products and how did you find us?
I've been using EFM for almost a year. I was searching for a new product to offer at the gym. I love how clean EFM products are. I love the EFM community and it's a product I can 100% stand behind and believe in.

What are your favorite EFM products?
My favorite is the Chocolate Casein. I love making my mug cakes every night. And my 2nd favorite is EFM Creatine.

What is your favorite supplement science?
I love the benefits of creatine. It's not just helpful for your muscles, but it also helps reduce anxiety.

How do you want to be remembered? What impact do you want to have?
I just hope that I make a positive impact on every person I meet. And that if there was one thing that they were able to take away is them to always believe in themselves and to keep training hard because being strong is key. Because BUFF IS BEAUTIFUL.
